I bought these specifically for my Saint Bernard, who has a bit of anxiety and licks his crate when he's anxious. It's an improvement over licking his legs and paws, though I wanted to give him an option that was more productive for him.Licking and chewing activates the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system, releases oxytocin and dopamine, and gives them something to focus on besides the stressors, but it is HARD to find enrichment toys for XL and giant breeds. He's small for a Saint at only about 120 pounds, but he's still a big boy with a big mouth. He is a rescue and is easily frustrated by a lot of food toys, so he gives up on them pretty easily (leaving a bunch of food behind.) Even Kongs are "too much" for him if they're packed full (EVEN if what they're packed full of is meat and bits of cheese!) Having something so simple that keeps him occupied is a godsend! We have multiple LickiMats, but because they're small and flexible, he has a hard time keeping them in one spot and ends up covered in peanut butter. But these "mats" are solid and stationary. One of them will keep him focused and occupied for half an hour, and when he's finished with it, he lays down and naps. The screw on the back is just long enough for his crate bars (and fits on all of my dogs' crates, from toy breed sized on up) and the plate can be frozen. It's easy to clean with hot water and a little scrub brush, and they've stood up to my very food motivated, very determined pit bull, who attempts to chew it once the majority of the peanut butter is gone (I watch her with these and take it away when she's done - these plates are sturdy, but are still plastic and definitely wouldn't hold up to any dog who really wanted to pull them off.)10/10 - I'll definitely be ordering a few more packs of these!I've been using these for my puppy for about a month now. They've held up well. When it is attached to the crate there really is no way for them to chew on it to destroy it, however I've seen dogs do amazing things so it is still possible lol. They are easy to clean and load with the little brush/spatula that comes with it. No complaints, it's a great product!I love the idea of being all to screw these to the crate. Unfortunately they didn’t fit on my dogs travel crate so measure first. They aren’t the easiest to clean, you must soak first but they are sturdy and worth the buy- if they fit.I purchased this lick mat/slow feeder for my one year old dog, who gets a lot of anxiety when we leave the house. We had to crate train him because he gets so sad when we leave for work that he started chewing on the windowsills and staircase. I feel so sad for the little guy, he's a good dog, he just gets sad when we leave. So I decided to get this for inside his crate to help calm him and see if it would help reduce his anxieties. It really helps him! The texture of the lick mat is such that it takes extra time and effort to get the snacks, giving him something else to focus his attention on other than his anxieties. It takes his mind off the fact that we have left and gives him a constructive activity instead of chewing on the house. The lick mat is very durable as well, my dog is a big time chewer but this has withstood any bites and chews he has tried. I usually put peanut butter on the lick mat, it's one of his favorites and it's just so cute to see him eating his treat. This lick mat has improved my dog's ability to cope with separation!! I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase! Is a great product works just as good as competitors products that are 3 times as expensiveMy pups love peanut butter but I knew I couldn't get a normal lick mat because they'd have their feet in it and make a huge mess. This was the perfect solution!Puppy loves locking peanut butter when in crateLick Mats for Dogs, Hathever 2 Pack Dog Crate Lick Pads Slow Feeders, Puppy Crate Training Toys for Boredom & Anxiety Relief, Perfect for Treats, Yogurt, or Peanut ButterWe are devotees of the licky mat in any way shape or form to begin with. They are great for slowing down greedy eaters that might give themselves bloat if they are not careful - just spread some of their wet food on. They are also useful when it comes to distracting your pup from some unpleasant but necessary actions such as clipping nails, cleaning ears or bathing - just slather them in peanut butter or whatever treat they cannot resist and you are good to go.What makes these mats even more versatile is, that in addition the the above, where you place them on a flat surface, these can be attached to the side of a crate or fence. Which means they instantly become an amazing tool when it comes to crate training your dog! Spread some greek yoghurt on, attach it to the inside of the crate and watch your dog spring inside and forget the world around them for a good couple of minutes. The mats are made out of a BPA free material that is food grade so you don't have to worry about spreading any nasties to your dog. They can be easily cleaned, run them under a hot tap or even toss them in the dishwasher and they come out again as new.We are exceptionally happy with these! My dog loves using a lick mat and I often smear yoghurt or dog friendly peanut butter on a floor mounted mat for additional enrichment and stimulus for the dog. When I saw this crate mounted version I thought it'd be ideal for those times when we have to crate our dog for travel or short periods at home. Our dog will happily go into the crate and use this and barely notices you've gone.As this is mounted vertically make sure you do not use loose food on it, like yoghurt, as it'd just drip off, but otherwise this is great for an additional fun treat for your dog. I have seen some people use these as distraction when trimming their dog's claws too, which may be worth trying too. What a fantastic product these are! I’ve used standard licki mats with my dogs before and they are great boredom busters, but these however lick mats actually attach firmly to the bars of a crate which makes it a brilliant way of occupying them when they have to be crate. They are easy to clean as well, as they can go in the top drawer of the dishwasher – ensuring that they stay hygienic. They are a brilliant idea! They currently sell at a Prime price of £13.99 for the pair, which is fantastic value indeed.
